The Payroll & Accounting Specialist is responsible for managing and processing complex semi-monthly payroll using the Center’s HRIS, including retirement contributions, tax reporting, direct deposits, and system administration. This role performs detailed payroll calculations and adjustments such as FLSA overtime and bargaining agreement provisions, while also preparing payroll journal entries and reconciling payroll payables related to employee benefits and pension programs.
Additional duties include performing centralized accounts payable functions, auditing and processing invoices, reimbursements, travel advances, and purchase orders, and ensuring compliance with Washington State BARS coding. This position also manages daily bank deposits, collaborates with Human Resources on personnel changes, and supports Finance with monthly, quarterly, and year-end reconciliations, along with special projects as assigned.
The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor position is responsible for the configuration, implementation, design, maintenance, management, and support of diverse building systems, infrastructure, and security technologies managed by the Technical Services Department.
As part of the Center’s Technical Services Department, and under the direction of the Communications Manager, the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor is a FLSA-exempt position that manages all building systems, performs a variety of maintenance duties, and manages external contracts for other maintenance services. Position has access to confidential information and essential systems supporting 911 and other operations.
The communication officer is responsible for receiving incoming calls for police, fire, and emergency medical aid, and non-emergency requests from the public via 9-1-1 lines and other seven-digit telephone lines. Employee obtains information from callers who may be injured, confused, or abusive, and determines which, if any, agencies should respond to the event. The employee must enter initial information into the computer while maintaining contact with the reporting party to gather additional pertinent information.

The hiring process can be rigorous, requiring each applicant to take and pass a skills-based test and undergo an extensive background check. Qualified candidates can expect the selection process to last 6-8 weeks, beginning with the skills-based exam administered by the Center and ending with a final offer of employment.

Please note: Applicants are only allowed to reschedule for testing or interviews once during the current recruiting process. A no-show to any Valley Com 911-initiated test or interview will result in the removal of consideration for employment during the current recruiting process.
Once you have completed the preliminary interview phase or polygraph phase and are not invited to continue in the recruiting process, you may reapply for a Communications Officer I/II position one additional time after a two-year waiting period.
If you are not invited to continue the recruitment process after the psychological evaluation, you will not be allowed to reapply for the Communications Officer I/II in the future without written authorization from the Center and not before a two-year waiting period. However, you are allowed to apply for other positions within Valley Com 911 at any time.
